Intercession Hubs
On Wednesday 28 August, 10 members of the Intercession Hubs met together for a day of fellowship and prayer. The big house where we met in Bedfordshire welcomes Christian guests for days such as this, and it was a treasure chest within beautiful countryside surroundings. But why did we organise a get-together? Well, Flame’s Intercession Hubs have been running now for 12 months, and so far, there are 12 active Hubs that meet once a month, or more. Over the last few months, we have been consistently encouraged by the Holy Spirit to get people from different hubs to meet for a time of fellowship and prayer; so, we did.
We believe that this was not a one-off event, but rather, something that the Spirit wants to do regularly within the Hubs. Even though there were only 10 people able to join this time, we believe the Lord was saying, “Do not despise the day of small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin” (Zechariah 4:10). This day may have been more like a pioneering session, and our prayer is that what God was beginning to do amongst us, he would do more of in the other Hubs.
We started the day with a short talk on a reminder of what the Hubs and our prayers are really founded on; what is the purpose and goal of these Hubs? The goal of the Hubs is to serve toward the fulfilment of the Great Commission by interceding for the nations which Flame impacts. In this talk, we showed maps of the nations which Flame are impacting, in relation to the most unevangelised and unreached nations in the world. This was insightful and helpful to steer our prayers and give an understanding of the bigger picture.
This followed on with a time of personal and group consecration. We spent time individually confessing sins to God, then met as a group to confess the sins of the church in the UK. After this we took communion, and then praised the Lord. This was based on the method of consecration that Hezekiah used in 2 Chronicles 29. Though time was short, this was a valuable start to our day.
One of the highlights of this day was having a guest speaker share with us her advice and thoughts about intercession. Sheena Tranter has been on mission with Flame before and serves in worldwide intercessory groups for the nations. Her talk was utterly faith-building and was such an encouragement to us. There were many points to her talk, but I think the emphasis returns to this: seek intimate fellowship with God through pursuing holiness and devotion to him. Learn to hear his voice in the prayer room, and then when he speaks, obey what he instructs you to do! Her personal stories and encounters with God, leading her to do things and go to places she would never have thought of, helped us see more of what obeying the Lord’s voice can really produce and it is exciting!
After a great lunch, Di Payne led us in a time of intercession with plenty of prophetic actions and declarations. We all sensed something had shifted in the spirit, and it was good to be war faring together as a group. Something that stood out to me that Di shared was that “each time of intercession has an assignment”. Therefore, wait on the Lord, know what the assignment is, agree with others and stick to it until it’s accomplished!
In all, this was a great day, and we praise God. Intercession is exciting, and the Flame Hubs are exciting because the Lord is calling his people to draw near to him and partner with the outworking of his Kingdom strategy on the earth! We get to fellowship with God, we get to fellowship with each other, and we get to be a part of the Kingdom of God coming on the earth! Hallelujah!
Our hope and encouragement to the Hubs and to groups who pray; continue to pursue intercession. Plan to meet up with other hubs and groups and spur one another on to continue to contend in the heavenlies. Glory to God!
